ABOUT COASTAL SOLE

Todd Whisnant, the owner, has over 37 years of experience in the industry. After many years with The Athlete’s Foot, he and his family took a leap of faith and followed his passion of fitting customers with the proper performance shoes and opened Coastal Sole in March of 2017. Our sales manager, Matt, has over 20 years experience in the shoe industry and has been with Coastal Sole from the planning stages. In January 2024, we relocated to a larger space to provide a better experience for our customers. We are known as the area’s leader in performance footwear and named a Best Running Store of 2024 by The Running Event.

Ainsley’s Angels

Coastal Sole proudly supports Ainsley’s Angels, which has a Local Ambassadorship in New Bern. In addition to ensuring everyone can experience endurance events, Ainsley’s Angels builds awareness about America’s special needs community through inclusion in all aspects of life. As advocates for providing education and participating as active members, we believe everyone deserves to be included.

Kicks for Kids

Kicks for Kids is a partnership between New Bern Breakfast Rotary, Craven County Schools, and Coastal Sole to provide shoes for underprivileged children in our community. Coastal Sole’s owner Todd Whisnant has been involved with Kicks for Kids for over 20 years. Since opening in 2017, Coastal Sole has helped put shoes on about 300 elementary and middle school kids in need each year.

Coastal Sole Pub Runners

Coastal Sole hosts weekly group runs on Monday nights at 6:30pm at The Bruin (224 Middle Street) and on Thursday nights at 6:30pm at Freshwater Beer Company (904 Pollock Street).

All paces welcome to walk or run a route through downtown New Bern. Dog and stroller-friendly. Join us every Monday and Thursday night!
